Meant to be – Linda’s story

My husband John and I spent our honeymoon in Mallorca 26 years ago.
After staying in Deià at La Residencia hotel, we sailed round the
island to Puerto Pollenca. The apartment we now own, thanks to Dawn, is
in the photos we took of us in Pollenca all those years ago.

I always say buying a property is meant to be and you can’t get a
better example of what I mean than that.

For years, we would stay in a villa built by my father in Alcanada near
Alcudia. But when he decided to sell it, we had to find our own home in
Mallorca.

One day, John was walking through Puerto Pollensa where we were renting when he
stopped to look in a real estate agent window. Dawn was inside working.
She saw John and – typical Dawn – came straight out and said, ‘Can
I help you?’

‘We’ve been looking for a while and need some guidance,’ John
said. ‘My wife has this image of what she wants but we can’t find
it.

‘Let’s meet and see if I can help you,’ Dawn said.

We met and I was struck by Dawn’s ability to get inside my head and
understand exactly what I wanted.

For two years, Dawn persevered to try and find the ideal home for us.
She was amazing, always so proactive. But even though she showed us many
homes in Puerto Pollenca and the old town, they weren’t what I truly
wanted.

From time to time, I would walk with Dawn along the Pine Walk which runs
alongside Pollenca bay. We would pass an unusual house with two towers,
on the market for €1.2 million.

‘Now _that’s_ my dream home,’ I would say.

‘Let’s go in and look at it,’ Dawn would reply.

I always refused, saying ‘If I look at that place, I’ll want it so
much you’ll never be able to sell me anything else.’

Two years later, John and I were in New York when I woke up to three
missed calls from a Mallorca number. I called back and it was Dawn.
‘Oh my God,’ she said. ‘That property you’ve always loved has
just been halved in price. You’ve got to get to Mallorca now!’

By coincidence, a friend of mine was on holiday in Mallorca. She looked
at the property with Dawn. ‘It’s incredible,’ my friend said,
‘so you.’

As soon as we arrived back in the UK, we transferred a 10% deposit to
the seller’s bank. Next day we flew to Mallorca. We exchanged
contracts a day later. Dawn supported us all the way, putting us in
touch with the right lawyers, accountants and so on.

Ten years later, Dawn was there for us when John and I together with my
stepson and his wife decided to spend three months in Mallorca when
everyone was allowed to travel after lockdown. Dawn sorted out better
wifi for us.

Not only did Dawn find me my perfect home, she’s always been there for
me.
